Master of the Wind-Reflections after playing the game

Postby over_cloud9 » Mon Dec 07, 2009 6:42 am

:wel: Welcome to the reviews of Master of the Wind!

This game is released in arcs and there are a total of 7 arcs in this game. The latest arc released so far is arc 6.The next arc will be released in next year.I must comment that the developer was really choosy in picking up the game music as NONE of the background musics are that of common RPG maker.I really liked the hand-picked music collection available along with a serious storyline. The world is referred as Solest in the game where Arcadius-the god and Perditia-the evil goddess are the two figures of divine worship.Politics, fanaticism, business sharks, vampire and thieves are some of the leading antagonists in the game;and there’s a hero…umm two heroes to begin with,to save the world. The personal profiles of the heroes are unique, infact there are more members who join to save Solest from religious-political monopoly. The story also has some mystery characters like the Sparrow,a deadly assassin, whose appearance at certain sudden moments in the game makes the story all the more exciting. There’s an entire topic in the Master of the Wind forum on Sparrow-as to who is he.There’s also instances of forbidden ancient magic like rising a lich, bringing back a dead person to life, etc. You must try the game to experience the thrill of playing it.

The normal inhabitants of Solest are not only human beings but also other creatures like orcs, trolls, fairies, lodites, skeletons, elves, etc (there are not the ones you face in the random encounters). The game play is not mouse based and the graphics aren’t marvellous..but the puzzles in the games are really enjoyable. Each of the puzzle is different and are refreshing in between battles. Most mini games in it are based on fast reflexes. In short, the game is really worthy of appreciation.

in one word this game was fabulous. The music was excellent and the story was outstanding! There were many twist in the game which makes it interesting. the game is divided into seven arcs(parts) as over cloud9 has written here. the graphics was not good but in the super duper pack it had improved. the game is about two heroes who wants to protect thier town from danger. you must play this game ( this is my suggestion to everyone). :D

For a free game, Master of the Wind has a very thoroughly developed and enjoyable storyline. You follow Cade/Shroud and Bones/Stoic as they battle evil, particularly Equipment King (a massive chain weapon & armor store). Both work for the local, small armorer by day, and as their superhero alter egos, fight crime by night (okay, sometimes during the day too :D). So, far, the game is very linear, however, and basically most areas other than the ones you have already completed or the one you need to go to next are blocked off.

In the first three arcs, which I mostly completed (I'll get to that in a little bit), you really have to do a fair bit of grinding to level up. The monsters are quite difficult, so you're best bet is to stay near a healing well so you can battle, heal, and repeat in order to save your supplies. I have read that the monsters get much easier in later arcs, but there's a strong possibility I might never make it that far!

As I mentioned before, the story itself is actually very well developed and unlike many rpgs, I really didn't notice any of the common grammatical/mechanical errors that often litter the dialogue. The game also features numerous puzzles, many of which are also very different from those found in most rpgs.

Okay, now on to the downside. I am so very upset because I wanted to continue this game and find out what was really going on, but I hit a snag in Arc 3. I do not have quick reflexes and pretty much suck at any sort of puzzle/game that requires me to have quick reflexes. So, I am stuck at the second shooting puzzle in Arc 3. I have wonderfully leveled characters who have brand new armor and weapons, but there is absolutely no way to skip puzzles in this game. This means that I probably am never going to finish the game, since I can't get past this one puzzle (and, from what I've read, there are some that are even worse).

My caution would be, then, if you also do not have fast reflexes (the shooting puzzle alone makes you aim, shoot--and you can only hit something when 2 perpetually moving bars briefly line up-- and repeat the process in rapid succession within a limited time), you might not want to play this game, unless you know someone who can get you past some of the puzzles. Otherwise, like me, you will have invested many hours in a game you can't finish and would really love to finish. In fact, I so wish the creators had put in an option that you could skip puzzles for say so much money or something like that.

However, if you don't suffer from the same lack of skills as me, this really is an excellent and very long game for a freebee.
